Second Sunday in Ordinary Time

“For Zion’s sake, I will not be silent, for Jerusalem’s sake, I will not be quiet, until her vindication shines like the dawn and her victory like a burning patch.”   (Isaiah 62:1-5)

Proclaim his marvelous deeds to all the nations.”  (Psalm 96)

At Cana, Mary, the Mother of Jesus, “notices” a need. She speaks to her Son.  One word from his mother, and Jesus reveals his divinity so all people can see just how present God is for all of us. Mary speaks. Jesus acts. They influence a happy occasion, to make people more happy---not a healing! Not a conversion!  But to bring joy to a joyful gathering.

Haiti, just about as poor as any nation, has long been in desperate need.  The earthquakes and the need now becomes a catastrophe!  Many nations are now marshalling their resources to come to the aid of Haiti.  May we all pull together and not stop until the outpouring of loving help reaches and sustains every individual. Every Mass celebrated at St. Christopher’s includes special prayers for Haiti and Haitians everywhere in the world. Join us at week-day Mass at 12:05 pm.

Our second collection this weekend is for the relief efforts in Haiti, joined with every parish in the Archdiocese of Boston. Is there anything else you or your family can do to help in this effort?

Join us in a “Holy Hour” of prayer for life this Thursday at 7:30 pm here at St.Christopher.
